Here at Generations Timber Frames, we offer full design services for your timber frame project. As your timber frame provider, our goal is to give you peace of mind, while we build the home that will bring you lasting pleasure.

Great houses start with great designs. Designing a custom home is an exciting undertaking for many people as it is an opportunity to make a personal statement on a grand scale. A good house designer or architect will be able to create a design that balances your tastes, lifestyle, and comfort with the location you choose to build.

With all that said - It’s time to meet Ed Kriskywicz of Construction Design, Inc. Generations Timber Frames has teamed with Ed to give our clients a complete design-build package. I assure you, you will be impressed with his personalized yet professional detail to his work.

Ed Kriskywicz, Construction Design, Inc. is defined as a small, unassuming residential design firm in Northwestern Michigan - at home in a conservative, coastal community no one has ever heard of, made up of a handful of very interesting souls with incredible passion, talents and grass roots values. This distinctive firm is commonly known as CDI.

You will work with Ed on creating your architectural drawings for your timber frame project. He will help you determine the size and style of your timber frame home as well as many details that will be important to you in creating your perfect home.

The design cost is included in the quote you will receive on your timber frame project. If an Engineer’s Stamp is required by your local building department, we will recommend and work with an Engineer to develop your plans. In addition to the timber frame design, we provide home plans (elevations, floor plans, foundation plans, specifications, sections and details and electrical layout) for the entire project. We will work with you to determine whether a fully timber framed home or a hybrid timber framed home will work best for your new home.

If you have hired a local architect to design your timber frame home, we can also work seamlessly with them. However, it is important that we are involved in the design process early on so that we can help to facilitate the timber frame design for performance, aesthetics and functionality.

Our timber frame design portion will still be completed in house by Deb Watkins. She will work with you on creating the frame that you envision within your home. On smaller projects where an architect is not a necessity Deb will design your frame to suit your needs – be it an addition, porch, truss or gazebo – she’ll design it to meet your expectations.
